The Israeli army had detained 549 Palestinians from East Jerusalem and the West Bank in November, a Palestinian NGO said Sunday.
"The highest arrests were made in Jerusalem and Hebron," the Palestinian Prisoners' Society said in a statement.
It added that 233 detainees came from East Jerusalem and that most of these detainees were minors who were released later, but put in house arrest or forced to pay fines.
Jerusalem has been the site of daily violent confrontations between the Palestinians, on one hand, and Israeli police and army troops, on the other, against the background of repeated Israeli violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In its statement on Sunday, the Palestinian Prisoners' Society said that in November the Israeli army had detained 120 Palestinians from Hebron; 43 from Ramallah and al-Bireh; 34 from Bethlehem; 30 from Nablus, and 26 from Jenin.
Around 7,000 Palestinians in total are in Israeli jails, including 16 women and 250 children, according to a previous statement by the society.
