Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Friday summoned the ambassadors of four European countries, one day after Israeli envoys were rebuked over plans to build new settlement homes in the West Bank.

Lieberman is expected to tell the ambassadors of Britain, France, Italy and Spain that they are taking a "constant one-sided stance" against Israel, according to Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot.

The top diplomat will also tell the European envoys that their stand is unacceptable and creates the impression they are only looking for a platform to blame Israel.

The move comes one day after the four countries summoned Israeli ambassadors to protest Israeli plans to build new settlement homes in the West Bank.

Last week, Israeli authorities unveiled plans to build new 1400 settlement homes in the West Bank.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the European criticism of settlement building as "hypocrisy".

"I think it is time to stop this hypocrisy," he said. "Israel, which goes to great length in order to maintain peace and battle terror for the benefit of both Israelis and Palestinians, is always criticized."

Palestinians insist that Israeli settlement building must stop before a comprehensive Israeli-Palestinian final-status agreement can be reached.

Both the UN and the US consider Israeli settlement activity on occupied Palestinian land to be a breach of international law.
