Israeli helicopter attacks Lebanon, missiles fired

An Israeli helicopter on Tuesday fired two missiles at a Lebanese army post near the southern border village of Adaisseh, destroying an armoured personnel carrier, a security source said.

He added there were no immediate reports on casualties.

Israeli and Lebanese troops also exchanged fire on the Israel-Lebanon border on Tuesday, witnesses said.

The Israeli army fired artillery shells at the village of Adaisseh, one of which hit a house and wounded two people.

The Lebanese army said the Israeli army had sustained casualties in the border incident and was withdrawing them from the scene, without elaborating.

Hezbollah al-Manar television quoted witnesses as saying two Israeli soldiers were wounded.

Israel attacked southern Lebanon in 2006 that that cost Lebanon a heavy civilian toll but failed to defeat Hezbollah guerrilla force on the ground.
