Israeli TV: Drone shot down over Golan was Iranian

World Bulletin / News Desk

A drone that was shot down by the Israeli army in the Golan Heights on Sunday was an Iranian one, some Israeli military sources have revealed.

Israel's Channel 2 quoted one of these military sources as saying that the drone was an Iranian Yasir type.

The channel broadcast a video allegedly of the Iranian drone being struck down by Israel's air defense over the Golan Heights. A Patriot missile was used in bringing the drone down, the channel said.

According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the Israeli army shot down the drone in an area near the border with Syria.

There has been no claim of responsibility from anybody for flying the drone over the Golan Heights. Anadolu Agency could not obtain immediate comments from Iranian authorities on the report of Channel 2 either.

In March, Israel declared the seizure of rockets destined for the Gaza Strip on board of an Iranian ship in the Red Sea. Iran immediately denied the Israeli claim.

Israel considers Iran its arch enemy.
