Israeli women on Wednesday attacked an Arab woman, even forcibly pulled off her head covering in occupied Jerusalem.
The attack took place on Monday at one of the light rail stops in west Jerusalem, with an Israeli bystander capturing the event on camera then posting the account along with 14 photographs on her own Facebook page.
In an account in Hebrew, eyewitness Dorit Jordan Dotan described seeing an Arab woman with her head covered standing at the tram stop in Kiryat Moshe, near the central bus station.
"A young religious Jewish woman who passed by the station suddenly punched the Arab woman in the face, while she was standing there," she said.
"When the woman tried to defend herself, the attacker's friends came to her assistance, started hitting her and pushed her toward the station's wall.
"They yelled at her 'Don't you dare touch a Jew,' and 'you have no business being here, and even forcibly pulled off her head covering.' The Light Rail security guard was there but he did nothing, he didn't get involved."
She said the Arab woman was with a man, "he was helpless, and didn't know how to stop the attack.
"Many people just stood by and didn't help her."
She said, the incident was witnessed by a security guard from the rail company and a group of ultra-Orthodox Jewish students who stood by and did nothing.Last Mod: 28 Şubat 2013, 16:05
