Jordan will participate in an international conference on fighting terrorism in Washington next week, Interior Minister Hussein al-Majali said Tuesday.

U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to invite allies to attend an international conference on Feb. 18 in Washington to discuss "means of combating terrorism and extremism" in the world.

Al-Majali said at a Tuesday parliamentary that the Jordanian government has just prepared a national strategy to combat extremism.

Jordan's King Abdullah II has earlier vowed to launch an "unrelenting war" against the ISIL militant group, shortly after the latter burnt a captured Jordanian pilot alive.

Last year, the ISIL overran vast territories in both Iraq and Syria, prompting the U.S. to form an international coalition to fight it.

In recent months, the coalition has launched numerous aerial strikes against ISIL targets in both Iraq and Syria.
