Lebanese Mufti Mohamed Qabbani called for the release of kidnapped Turkish pilots in Lebanon's capital Beirut.

In a written statement, Qabbani asked Lebanese officials to do their best for the release of the pilots and stressed that the abduction of foreigners in Lebanon affected the relations of the country with other countries.

"Lebanon does not deserve the inhumane actions such as the abduction of people" Qabbani said and called for release of Turkish pilots.

A shuttle carrying the pilot, the assistant pilot, and the crew of the Turkish Airlines plane which flew to Beirut from Istanbul was stopped by four gunmen on the way from airport to the hotel and gunmen abducted a Turkish pilot Murat Akpinar and his assistant Murat Agca in Beirut. A group named 'Visitors of Imam Reza' claimed the responsibility afterwards.

11 Lebanese who were on their way to Iran after having visited Imam Reza's mausoleum, had been kidnapped near Syrian Azaz city. Two of them were released later on with Turkey's peacemaking. The kidnapping of Turks is said to be aimed at the release of Lebanese.
