Moroccan King grants amnesty to 1,044 prisoners on Throne Day

Moroccan King Mohammad VI proclaimed on Tuesday amnesty to 1,044 prisioners on the 14th anniversary of his accession to the throne, said the ministry of justice and freedom.

Moroccan King Mohammad VI proclaimed on Tuesday amnesty to 1,044 prisioners on the 14th anniversary of his accession to the throne, said the ministry of justice and freedom.

"Arrested and convicted prisoners are among 1,044 prisoners which received amnesty by the king," the statement from the ministry of justice and freedom noted.

King Mohammad VI ascended to the throne after the death of his father, King Hassan II on 30 July 1999.
