Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi arrived in court on Wednesday for the second session of his trial on charges of inciting the killing of protesters during his time as head of state, state media reported.

The charges relate to violence outside the presidential palace in December, 2012, during protests ignited by a presidential decree that expanded Morsi's powers. The army deposed the Muslim Brotherhood politician on July 3 following mass protests against his rule.

Morsi was last month ordered to stand trial in two further cases. The new charges include conspiring with the Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran against Egypt, and involvement in a plot related to his escape from prison in 2011.

Fourteen other Islamist leaders are standing trial with Morsi in the case being heard on Wednesday.
