The son of former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has revealed a message to the ousted leader's supporters saying, "the military coup is ending soon."
His son, Usama, added: "My father also pledges that retribution for the blood of the people killed in the anti-coup protests will be achieved. My father sends you good news about the coup. He says that victory is near, because the coup is ending and justice for the martyrs will be achieved very soon."
It seems as though support for the military is fading, with a string of resignations from the interim government after a bloody crackdown has seen hundreds of the former president Mohammed Morsi's supporters killed by live ammunition. Former presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh has also joined in with the criticism.
"President Morsi was unable to protect himself when influential former regime figures conspired against him and prevented him from fulfilling the Egyptian people's demands," he said, adding "President Morsi could not protect his office, the gates of his Presidential Palace or even his own party where many of their supporters were murdered and 27 centers were burned and therefore, could not arrest al-Sisi."
Morsi, who has been out of office since the military conducted a coup on the elected government on 3 July, is set to be put on trial charged with calling for the killing of demonstrators in front of the presidential palace, collaborating with the Palestinian government of Gaza, Hamas, and being involved in a plot to free prisoners during the 25 January Revolution which saw his predecessor Hosni Mubarak step down after mass protests.Last Mod: 25 Ekim 2013, 15:58
