NATO is ready to help in the process of destruction of chemical stockpiles belonging to Syrian regime if requested, said its Secretary-General on Wednesday.
Anders Rasmussen told journalists that he discussed the destruction of chemical stockpile in Syria with Russian officials following NATO-Russian Council’s meeting, but noted the meeting did not produce any concrete result.
"It is too early to say on what kind of role NATO can play in the destruction process," Rasmussen said.
“We have not received any request. I expect from members of NATO-Russian council to respond positively if the UN demanded,” he added.
