Nusra Front’s top military commander Abu Humam al-Shami was killed Thursday in the northern Syrian province of Idlib.
The Syrian army claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the Syrian state news agency.
The attack targeted a meeting by the al-Qaeda-tied group in the town of Salqin, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Nusra Front is one of the opposition groups, which is fighting the Assad regime in Syria's ongoing civil war.
