OIC backs Saudi response to Houthi missiles

World Bulletin / News Desk

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has reiterated support for any moves taken by Saudi Arabia over ballistic missiles fired by Houthi rebels from neighboring Yemen.

On Sunday, one person was killed and two others were injured when Houthi rebels fired a barrage of ballistic missiles into Saudi territory.

“This hostile and criminal approach by Houthi militia…aims to harm security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the region,” the OIC said in a statement on Monday.

It underlined support for “all measures and steps taken by Saudi Arabia to maintain its security and stability."

In 2015, Saudi Arabia and Arab allies launched a massive air campaign against Houthi rebels, who overran much of Yemen, including capital Sanaa, a year earlier.

Riyadh accuses the Shia militia of acting as a proxy force for its regional arch rival Iran.
