Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the initiative of Moaz Al-Khatib, head of Syrian Revolutionary & Opposition Forces (SMDK), who called for a dialogue with Syrian regime.
Recently, Al-Khatib stated that Syrians agreed to negotiate with the government to stop the bloodshed.
"We agree to confer with the authorities to stop the bloodshed, destruction and burning down of Syria" Al-Khatib said.
Ihsanoglu told AA that Al-Khatib's initiative was a right step to take.
Noting that the crisis should be solved by political ways, Ihsanoglu said that a military solution would extend the crisis towards other countries in the region instead of eliminating the crisis.
Ihsanoglu also said that OIC supported efforts of UN & Arab League's Special Envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi.
