The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) with its 41-member body agreed on an accelerated program for achieving the complete elimination of Syria’s chemical weapons and required inspections in Syria to commence on 1 October 2013.
The decision required the Syrian regime to submit the name, type, amount and locations of all chemical weapons it owns or possesses, or has under its jurisdiction or control, to the Secretariat of OPCW in 7 days.
The decision also calls for ambitious milestones for destruction which will be set by the UN Security Council by 15 November.
The decision also put forward that the destruction of chemical weapons production and mixing/filling equipment shall be completed by November 1 and envisages destructing the whole chemical stockpile in Syria by mid-2014.Last Mod: 28 Eylül 2013, 11:03
