While the families and supporters of 529 anti-coup activists sentenced to death in Egypt are left to deal with their anguish, pro-coup Egyptian channels and TV programs have greeted the decision positively, congratulating the court of supposedly serving justice.
One particular presenter by the name of Ahmed Musa even went as far as saying that this punishment was not harsh enough for the anti-coup activists, who he described as murderers on the Sada Beled show. He even said the punishment should not just be given to 500 odd people, but to 10,000 or 20,000. 'We must throw them into the flames,' he said.
Raniya Badawi from Tahrir TV said that the Muslim Brotherhood exhausts the use of Islamic rhetoric yet Allah is not protecting them. The presenter also accused the US and other countries who criticized the decision of being heartless. Meanwhile, We'l Nas TV's Naila Umera said that she was praying for all Egyptians with the exception of the Muslim Brotherhood.
'Instead of debating the decision, we should be celebrating it,' Umera said.Last Mod: 25 Mart 2014, 17:25
