Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Sunday sent a cable of congratulations to Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi after taking oath as new president of Egypt.
Qatari Prime Minister and Interior Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also congratulated President al-Sisi, reported the official Qatari news agency.
Earlier in the day, al-Sisi was sworn in by the Supreme Constitutional Court as Egypt's new president.
Qatari Ambassador Saif bin Meqadem al-Boenain arrived in Cairo late on Saturday, according to Cairo Airport officials.
This is the second time the Qatari envoy returns to Egypt in five months since he left on the background of deteriorating relations between Cairo and Doha.
It was unclear whether the Qatari diplomat would participate in a special inauguration ceremony for President al-Sisi at Ittihadiya presidential palace.
Relations between Cairo and Doha have soured dramatically since last July, when the army ousted Morsi – Egypt's first freely elected leader – following mass demonstrations against his presidency.
A number of his Morsi supporters have since fled to Qatar amid a heavy-handed crackdown on dissent by Egypt's army-backed interim authorities.
