Unidentified rebels have attacked a military factory in Egypt's city of Rafah, near the Gaza border.

Unidentified assailants attacked an army-run factory for food products in the North Sinai city of Rafah on Friday.

According to a military source, three mortar shells were fired at the factory, located in the city's Abo Shnar district.

No casualties were reported.

Army troops exchanged fire with the attackers who fled the scene unscathed, the source said.

It remains unclear whether the attack caused substantial damage.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, in the canal city of Port Said, a policeman was injured on Friday in an exchange of fire with unidentified gunmen.

The attack came one day after two policemen were killed in two separate attacks in the canal city of Ismailia and the Qalyoubia province.
