Regime attacks kill 37 in Syria, activists say

At least 37 people were killed on Saturday in air and ground operations across Syria, allegedly mounted by President Bashar al-Assad's regime, opposition activists say.

The London-based Syrian Network for Human Rights watchdog said 10 people were killed in Daraa, eight in the suburbs of capital Damascus, six each in Homs and Aleppo, three each in Hama and Quneitra, and one in Deir Ez Zor.

Syrian News Agency SANA confirmed that many armed persons, including foreigners, were killed in regime forces operations in Aleppo, Daraa, Hama and Damascus.

On the other side, the Local Coordination Committees of Syria -- a network of local opposition groups -- said that opposition forces also killed many Hezbollah militants and Assad forces, and destroyed a regime building in Aleppo.

More than 100,000 people have been killed during the three-year conflict, according to the U.N. which announced it ended its death toll count in January. The fighting, which entered its fourth year in March, has also internally displaced more than 6.5 million people. An additional two and a half million are now registered as refugees in neighboring Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq.
