Rocket lands in southern Israel

A rocket landed near south Ashkelon Port late Friday, Israeli Radio reported Saturday.

No damage or injuries were reported.

According to the radio, the rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip toward the port.

Israeli Radio said residents in the area heard the explosion of the rocket followed by air raid sirens.

Israeli army launched a search operation in the area to determine from where the rocket had landed.

This is the third time in a month that rockets had been fired into Israel.

No Palestinian group had claimed responsibility for firing the rockets.

Last Month, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon vowed to respond violently to rockets fired on Israel.
