Russian, U.S. and U.N. officials will meet in June to discuss ways of bringing the warring sides in Syria together for a peace conference.

Russian, U.S. and U.N. officials will meet in June to discuss ways of bringing the warring sides in Syria together for a peace conference, a Russian Foreign Ministry source was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency.

"On June 5, in Geneva, a three-party meeting is expected with the participation of representatives from Russia, the United States and the United Nations at which preparations for the international conference on Syria will be discussed," the ministry source said on Thursday.

UN and Arab League Special Envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi would be representing the UN during the meeting, it was added.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Thursday that US Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and US Assistant Secretary of State Elizabeth Jones would represent the US during the meeting on Syria.

Moreoveri Psaki noted, the meeting was agreed during last week's talks which were held between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
