A senior military official survived an assassination attempt in southern Yemen on Tuesday, sources said.
Gen. Qassim Laboza, the commander of the 2nd Infantry Division, survived an attack by suspected Al-Qaeda militants on a military patrol in Shabwa province, according to the sources.
Two soldiers were killed in the attack.
Yemeni authorities have yet to comment on the attack, for which no group has yet claimed responsibility.
