The spokeperson of the Banner of Islam Brigade Maher Mohammed said that they were fighting against only Hezbollah in some regions of Damascus.

Mohammed told AA on Wednesday, "recently we fought against Hezbollah, not regime forces, in some parts of Damascus."

Mohammed noted that Hezbollah was fighting against the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in Damascus as well as in the Qusayr town of Homs, Aleppo and Dera'a.

"The Banner of Islam Brigade has helped 15,000 soldiers defecting from the Syrian army since March 2011, the date incidents began in Syria," he said, adding that they had a role in the defection of nearly 500 soldiers from the Assad forces weekly.
