The Syrian National Council, which withdrew from the coalition on January 21, 2014, says it will return to the Syrian National Coalition.

The Syrian National Council will continue its political efforts under the umbrella of the main Syrian National Coalition, said the Council’s spokesperson, Khaled al-Saleh on Monday.

Saleh told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the council decided to return to the Coalition due to the fruitless talks with President Bashar Assad regime at Geneva II and the lack of efforts to find a solution with political ways.

Touching on the Geneva II conference and talks with Assad regime, the spokesperson also said the Council took a decision not to attend the conference and was justified.

Noting the calendar of third round talks has not been ascertained yet, due to dispute over the issues to be discussed during talks, the spokesperson also called on the US, Russia and the UN to step up.

The Syrian National Council withdrew from the coalition on 21 January 2014 in protest at the coalition’s decision to attend the Geneva talks.
