At least 48 people were killed on Sunday in attacks staged by the Syrian regime in several cities across Syria, opposition activists said.

Assad forces killed 22 people in Aleppo and 11 in the suburbs of the capital Damascus and 15 others in several other cities across the country in air and ground strikes, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), a London-based group which tracks civilian and dissident casualties.

There were five children and five women among the dead.

A bomb laden car reportedly exploded in Tal Rifaat, about 40 kilometers north of Aleppo, which left several people wounded.

Meanwhile SANA, Syrian national news agency, said that regime forces made major gains against opposition fighters in operations across the country.

More than 100,000 people have been killed in more than two years of conflict in Syria and over two million Syrians are now registered as refugees in neighboring countries,Turkey. Lebanon and Iraq, according to the UN.
