The Tamarod (Rebel) Movement called for the Tunisian people to "occupy the streets until the fall of the government" after the assassination of opposition lawmaker Mohamed Brahmi.

"We cannot get somewhere with empty words. The best solution is taking the streets over against the authorities who do not know the meaning of protecting citizens" said a written statement issued by the movement.

The statement, claiming that the supporters of Tamarod would take the streets until the fall of government, said "We will not keep silent, resist Tunisia, no way back."

Tamarod Movement, demanding the dissolving of the parliament and fall of government, had started a petition across the country.

Meanwhile the Constituent Assembly of Tunisia declared a day of mourning and suspended the activities of the parliament for Friday due to the Brahimi assasination.

Speaker of Constituent Assembly of Tunisia Mostafa bin Jaafar, stating that the assembly declared a day of mourning, called for a special session to discuss "the effects of the violence against the politicians to the stability of the country and the construction of young democracy."

Tunisian Nahda Party leader Ghannouchi defined the attack as "cowardly and flagitious" in a web statement.

Tunisian opposition politician Mohamed Brahmi was shot dead outside his home in Tunis on Thursday in the second such assassination this year.
