The US is set to open its first university campus in Israel, as the Texas A&M University pledged to build a campus in the city of Nazareth on Wednesday.
The Israeli Presidentail Office said in a statement on Wednesday, announced the plan to launch "Texas A&M Peace University" in order to provide ecuation to the sutdents of Galilee. This comes after president Shimon Peres and Texas governor Rick Perry signed an agreement in Jerusalem.
A&M plans to raise $70 million to build the campus, which is the biggest Arab city in Israel.
Education minister Shai Piron said that the new college would narrow gaps between Jews and Arabs, calling it "important news for Israeli society and for the Arab public."
