Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Dr. Alaa Abdel-Aziz has lashed out at the military coup, claiming it will not last in a statement.
“This coup will not last. Coup leaders will pay for it dearly,” the Muslim Brotherhood quoted Abdel-Aziz as saying.
Abdel-Aziz resigned from his post in protest of last Wednesday’s ousting of President Mohammed Morsi by the military.
The Muslim Brotherhood reported Abdel-Aziz stating that the blood of the supporters of Morsi will be a curse on the coup leaders as the blood of the dead in the Battle of the Camel was a curse on Hosni Mubarak and his regime.
“The elite, honorable intellectuals and men of creativity bear a great responsibility before history. They should take a position based on the principles of the glorious January 25 Revolution, denounce the massacre, which callously took the lives of men, women and children in front of the Republican Guard compound, with live bullets at the hands of ‘security’ forces,” Abdel-Aziz said.
“I renew my call for all honorable Egyptians to stand steadfast in the squares of Egypt, showing their rejection of the military coup,” the Muslim Brotherhood quoted the former minister of culture.Last Mod: 09 Temmuz 2013, 12:48
