Tunisia's leaders launched talks with leaders of political parties, and representatives of civil society to resolve the latest crisis ignited after opposition leader Mohammad al-Brahimi was shot dead.

Tunisia's President Moncef Marzouki met members of the Republican Party who demand a national salvation government and suggest repealing the ruling government, leader of Al-Nahda Movement, Rashid Al-Gannushi, Secretary General of Congress for the Republic (CPR), Imad ed-Daimi, member of the Democratic Alliance, Mohamed Hamdi.

Tension has been growing over opposition efforts to oust the Islamist-led government after the assassination of Brahimi, the second such killing in six months.

Anti-government protesters continue to hold demonstrations every night after breaking the fast of Ramadan, while government supporters take to the streets to demand democratic legitimacy and national unity.
