Tunisia is holding official celebrations on Friday to mark the official endorsement of the country's new constitution.

Official celebrations of the endorsement of Tunisia's new constitution kicked off Friday.

More than 27 delegations from around the world are attending the celebrations, including eight heads of state.

The new charter was approved on January 27, a document described by Tunisian officials as the "first democratic constitution" in the Arab world.

French President Francois Hollande arrived in Tunisia to attend celebrations of the country's new constitution.

Hollande was welcomed upon arrival by Tunisian President Moncef Marzouqi, the Tunisian Presidency said in a statement.

This is the second visit by Hollande to Tunisia since the 2011 ouster of long-serving president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali.
