A group formed to campaign against military coups with particular focus on Egypt condemns the trial of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and calls for his immediate release.
The Organization of International Justice and Freedom was formed in Istanbul last month, after a conference titled "Under the shadow of coup against the will of people". It is led by former Kuwait MP Ukkase Alabdali and Turkish academic Yasin Aktay - who also sits on Turkey's ruling parties' central decision making board.
Organization of International Justice and Freedom called Tuesday for ousted Egyptian president Morsi to be released immediately, and they call the trial as "inappropriate".
The organization calls for all global human right organizations to recognize the crime in Egypt. "It is against the will of Egyptian people to jail the first elected president in Egyptian history" said the organization in a letter.
Morsi’s refusal to stand on trial is also stressed by the organization; as a legitimate president of Egypt, Morsi does not recognize the coup regime in Egypt.
They ask the coup regime to turn back Morsi`s presidency to him unconditionally along with the constitution.
Morsi is the first elected president in the history of Egypt. Although he was elected with %52 of the votes, only after one year of presidency, the country was taken over by military coup under the command of General Sisi. Democracy supporters in Egypt and from many countries around the world are protesting Egyptian coup to turn the presidency back to Morsi.
Justice and Freedom Organization is supported by over 200 non-governmental organizations from 22 counties all around the world. The organization is aiming to protect peoples' right against military coup, and they are particularly focusing on Egypt.
