The Turkish army conducted an operation against two separate groups, which included a total of 2,000 people, by means of firing guns into the air and lachrymatory bombs.

According to the statement posted on the Turkish army's web site, the Turkish army found, and pinpointed at, the smugglers and gave warnings in Arabic and Turkish to the groups consisting of approximately 1,500-2,000 people.

The statement said that the smuggler group disregarded the warnings of the army and went on approaching the border, and a group from the Turkish border and another group on the Turkish border attacked the soldiers by throwing stones.

The Turkish army fended against the smuggler groups by means of firing the gun into the air and lachrymatory bombs, said the statement.

There were no casualties in the incident.
