Turkmenistan's foreign minister on Monday pledged to step up cooperation between his country and Palestine during a visit to Ramallah in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
At a press conference held with Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki, Rasit Meredow said the two top diplomats had agreed to step up cooperation in the fields of education, sports, youth and culture.
Al-Maliki, for his part, said they had also discussed means of strengthening business and diplomatic ties, including the possibility of opening a Palestinian embassy in Turkmenistan's capital, Ashgabat.
He added that he had briefed Meredow on recent Palestinian political developments, including preparations for an upcoming foreign ministers’ meeting in Paris devoted to resuming the stalled Palestine-Israel peace process.
