UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Mohammed Gargash arrived in Cairo on Friday on a surprise visit to Egypt.
He will hold talks with Egyptian officials on issues of mutual concern and ways of bolstering bilateral cooperation, along with current developments in Egypt and the region.
The UAE was among the first Arab countries to welcome the army's removal of elected President Mohamed Morsi from power on July 3 after mass protests against his regime.
The UAE has pledged $3 billion in aid to support Egypt's economy during the transition period.
The Gulf Arab country has said it would provide a $1 billion grant to Egypt and a $2 billion interest-free loan.
