United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is reportedly in good health after undergoing surgery following a stroke on Friday, a presidential statement cited by the official WAM news agency said Friday.

"His health is now stable," the statement stressed.

Sheikh Khalifa, 65, assumed the presidency of the oil-rich country in 2004 following the death of his father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan.

He is also the ruler of Abu Dhabi.
