UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday provided information to the members of the UN Security Council (US, Russia, China, Britain and France) on the allegations concerning the use of chemical weapons in Syria and a delegation he established to investigate such allegations.
In a statement released on Thursday, the office of the spokesperson for the UN Secretariat General said that Ban Ki-moon and members of the UN Security Council discussed the latest developments in Syria and the diplomatic steps that may be taken to end the Syrian crisis.
The issues of displaced Syrians and improving conditions for Syrian refugees in the region also came up in Ban Ki-moon's meeting with the members of the UN Security Council.
Ban Ki-moon's delegation continues to wait in the Greek Cypriot administration after the Syrian government recently did not permit the delegation to conduct a full scale investigation into allegations on the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
Chairman of the UN delegation, Swedish Professor Ake Sellstrom was in New York at the beginning of the current week to provide information to the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.Last Mod: 03 Mayıs 2013, 09:34
