UN and Arab League's Special Envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi referred to the statements of leader of Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, Sheikh Ahmad Moaz al-Khatib who offered possible "talks" with the Syrian regime based on certain conditions and said, "dialogue with the government is worthy of note."
Speaking at the press centre in UN Headquarters, he underlined the importance of the negotiations in the scope of finding solutions and stressed, "It is worthy of note. Let's see how the government is going to respond and let's see how the colleagues of Moaz al-Khatib are going to react." Brahimi suggested, if the UN Security Council bands together, they can make the Geneva Communique working and active.
Moaz al-Khatib's "talks" offer came a day after the international peace envoy for Syria gave a briefing to the UN Security Council.
The Chairman of Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, Sheikh Ahmad Moaz al-Khatib on Wednesday announced that they were ready for dialogue with the Syrian government but that they had certain conditions for such dialogue, al-Khatib underlined that they could meet with the representatives of the Assad regime in Cairo, Tunis or Istanbul so that the bloodshed in Syria comes to an end.Last Mod: 31 Ocak 2013, 09:37
