Turkey, US and Qatar's call for an urgent meeting at the UN Human Rights Council after the situation in Syria, especially in the Qusayr region, worsened received a positive response.
In talks held at the 23rd session of the UN Human Rights Council, the President of the Council Remiguisz Henczel said that the urgent meeting demanded by Turkey, the US and Qatar would take place on Wednesday.
Speaking at Monday's meeting, most of the delegates brought up their concerns on the worsening humanitarian situation in Syria. Some of the delegates renewed the call made by UN Human Rights High Commissioner Navi Pillay to the UN Security Council to carry the violations of human rights in Syria to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Speaking at the meeting, Turkey's Permanent Representative at the UN Geneva Office, Ambassador Oguz Demiralp underlined that reacting to the tragic situation in Syria was an ethical duty and that they made a call for an urgent meeting due to the situation in Qusayr.
