The UN OCHA said Yemen was "near collapse" after two years of continued unrest, as more than half of the population of the country needs humanitarian aid including food, clean water and healthcare in Yemen.

The United Nations asked countries for $702 million to help more than 7 million Yemenis who lack the supplies for daily humanitarian needs.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Yemen was "near collapse" after two years of continued unrest.

More than 13 million people, more than half of the population of the country, need humanitarian aid including food, clean water and healthcare in Yemen.

The country has been facing food insecurity and malnutrition as well as outbreaks of lethal diseases like measles.

It said maternal mortality stands at 365 for every 100,000 live births.
