UN seeks soldier missing on Golan Heights

A member of the UN peacekeeping force who was monitoring the cease-fire between Israel and Syria went missing on the Golan Heights.

UN Deputy Spokesperson Eduardo del Buey spoke to reporters on Monday and stated that a member of the UN peacekeeping force went missing on the Golan Heights.

Spokesmen Buey did not give details of the nationality of the missing UN member nor he said whether the missing UN member was a peacekeeper or a civilian worker.

He added that they are working on to find out what has happened.

In 1967 Israel occupied the Golan Heights where was in the land of Syria.

The UN peacekeeping force was established in 1974 to monitor a withdrawal by Israeli and Syrian forces from the buffer zone.

The team is formed of about 1150 members.
