Several Yemeni cities, including capital Sanna, suffered a blackout Saturday for the second consecutive day following an attack on power transmission lines in the eastern Ma'rib province.
The attack, which took place in the Al-Wadi district on Saturday, has disrupted power transmission from the gas-powered Ma'rib plant to Sanaa and other Yemeni cities.
Another attack struck the area one day later by tribesmen demanding government jobs as technicians were repairing the lines.
Yemen's eastern Ma'rib province is the epicenter of the country's oil production sector.
Ma'rib plant generates 340 megawatts out of the country's total 700 megawatt power generation.
Yemen has been dogged by turmoil since pro-democracy protests forced autocratic president Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down in 2012 after 33 years in power.Last Mod: 01 Kasım 2014, 15:17
