Palestine's representative at the United Nations, Riyad Mansur, said Friday that Palestine wanted to be a "full member" of the U.N.
Speaking to reporters at the U.N., Mansur said that they would announce their road map for the membership in the U.N. after a meeting to be held in Cairo on Monday.
"On September 19, high level meetings of the 66th UN General Assembly would begin. The U.N. will be the venue of a crucial and historic development and you will all witness this," Mansur said.
"As of Friday, 126 members of the U.N. General Assembly support Palestine and we expect this number to go up as time passes," Mansur said.
Palestine is currently represented at the U.N. as an observer and it does not have the right to vote.
Meanwhile, the U.N. said that they did not yet receive an official request from Palestine for a possible full membership.
