Five Palestinian youths were wounded on Thursday by Israeli gunfire during violent clashes in the West Bank city of Al-Khalil (Hebron).
Eyewitnesses said scores of Palestinian youths pelted an Israeli military site in Al-Khalil with stones following a march marking the Palestinian Prisoners' Day, which is commemorated by the Palestinians on April 17 every year.
Israeli soldiers used live ammunition and teargas, wounding some demonstrators in their legs, the eyewitnesses said, adding that the wounded victims were taken to the state-run Al-Khalil hospital for treatment.
A medical source from the hospital described as "slight" the injury of four victims, adding that the injury of the fifth was "moderate."
The Palestinian Prisoners' Day was first celebrated in 1974 when prisoner Mahmoud Bakr Hegazi was released in the first prisoner swap between the Palestinians and the Israelis.Last Mod: 18 Nisan 2014, 09:34
