Foreign Ministry of Palestinian government in Gaza sent on Monday a letter expressing gratitude to Turkey for its support in the Palestine issue.
"Both the Palestinian government and people are on the side of Turkish families regarding the events of Mavi Marmara flotilla when Israeli soldiers opened fire killing 9 Turkish people on May 31, 2010 to prevent a large range of goods from reaching Gaza victims," said the letter.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's planned visit to Gaza was pleasing, said the letter.
The letter included Turkey's support for the Palestinian people while also saying that Erdogan's Gaza visit would contribute to the foundation of an independent Palestinian state with Eastern Jerusalem as capital.
