A Palestinian court in the Gaza Strip on Sunday sentenced a young man to 12 years in prison over for allegedly spying for Israel.
"The Supreme Military Court in Gaza sentenced a citizen to 12 years in prison with hard labor for spying for Israel," the Palestinian Interior Ministry said on its website.
The ministry said the defendant received a reduced sentence as no one had been killed due to his espionage for Israel.
Security agencies in the besieged coastal enclave frequently clamp down on suspected spies.
Suspects always face trial behind closed doors, while the media is usually prevented from covering the proceedings.
