A Palestinian teenager was injured on Friday by Israeli gunfire in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian health official has said.
The 17-year-old sustained gunshot wounds to the shoulder after Israeli forces opened fire on a group of Palestinians in the central city of Deir al-Balah near the border with Israel, according to Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra.
Israel continues to bar Palestinians from coming within 300 meters of a unilaterally-declared buffer zone along the Gaza-Israel border, despite a 2012 Cairo-brokered truce agreement with the Palestinians that called for the buffer zone to be eliminated.
Israeli forces routinely shoot at Palestinians who attempt to approach the border fence.
