Scores of Palestinians on Friday suffered temporary asphyxiation when Israeli army forces violently dispersed anti-occupation demonstrations in several parts of the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces used live ammunition and teargas to disperse Palestinians who had gathered in several West Bank towns to hold weekly rallies against Israel's decades-long occupation, according to the Popular Resistance Committee, which regularly organizes such rallies.
Israeli forces used brackish water to disperse a demonstration in western Ramallah, according to the committee.
Palestinian protesters, for their part, hurled stones and empty bottles at Israeli troops and set fires to car tires.
Palestinians stage protests each Friday against ongoing Israeli settlement building and Israel's separation wall, which snakes across the occupied West Bank isolating large swathes of Palestinian territory.
The weekly rallies are typically dispersed by force by the Israeli army.
According to the Palestinian government in Ramallah, the separation wall effectively cuts some 50,000 Palestinian residents of occupied East Jerusalem off from the city center.
