Israel's air force on Monday launched strikes against targets in the northern Gaza Strip in response to rockets fired from the strip at towns in southern Israel, Israel Radio said.
The broadcaster quoted an unnamed military source as saying that the strikes were in response to the firing earlier of six rockets from Gaza into southern Israel.
The source did not, however, specify the nature of the targets in northern Gaza that were struck or their locations.
According to Israeli officials, several rockets were fired from Gaza and struck the western Negev city of Sderot on Monday.
Israel Radio said the rockets caused damage to some commercial shops in the city.
There has been no claim of responsibility on the Palestinian side for Monday's rocket attack, which coincides with Jewish Passover celebrations.
If confirmed, Monday's rocked barrage would be the largest launched against Israel from Gaza since the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip – fired scores of rockets at Israel last month in response to what it described as "continued Israeli aggression against Gaza."Last Mod: 21 Nisan 2014, 12:26
