Israeli naval forces fired Thursday at a security headquarters and chased fishermen boats off Rafah's coast in southern Gaza, following an attack by a Palestinian group.
The shootings did not result in casualties. However, one of the boats sustained damage, an Anadolu Agency correspondent reported.
The armed wing of the Gaza-based Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine announced that some of its members had fired at Israeli forces using light to medium weaponry.
No comment was thus far provided by the Israeli army.
Tensions have recently mounted along the border between the Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas since 2007, and Israel.
For weeks, Israeli aircraft have targeted Palestinian fighters in the strip in an apparent return of Israel's policy of "targeted killing."
