Three Palestinians, including a member of the Ezzeddin Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, were killed early Saturday in an Israeli raid in northern West Bank, Hamas sources said.
An Israeli army force raided the Jenin refugee camp and surrounded the house of Hamza Abu al-Hija, triggering clashes that left the Hamas member and two other people dead, the sources said.
A number of people were injured in Israeli gunfire, including one in a serious condition, a medical source at Jenin hospital said.
The Israeli army, for its part, said two soldiers were wounded in the clashes, Israel radio reported.
According to the radio, Abu al-Hija was wanted by Israeli security agencies, giving no further details.
Abu al-Hija's father, Jamal, is currently in an Israeli jail. He was detained by the Israeli army several times before.
Hamas condemns Israeli killing of 3 Palestinians
Palestinian resistance group Hamas on Saturday condemned the killing of three Palestinians by Israeli forces in the West Bank and held the self-proclaimed Jewish state fully responsible for the deaths.
"The killing of the three resistance fighters is a grisly Zionist crime," Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a statement.
"We hold the occupation government fully responsible for the consequences of the killings and other Israeli crimes," he added.
Barhoum argued that the "Israeli crime exposes the ugliness of the security cooperation between the Palestinian Authority and Israeli occupation".Last Mod: 22 Mart 2014, 14:33
